Hand in Hand Counselling - Person Centred Counsellor

The Counselling Process

Hand in Hand Counselling is person centred and non-directive. We will work at a pace that suits you, the client, to provide you with the help and support that is best suited to you and your circumstances.

The Person Centred Approach

Person centred counselling aims to work from the point of reference of the client. Rogers' form of counselling was designed to be non-judgemental so that the counsellor and the client interact on an equal basis. The counsellor aims for find an area of congruence - something that both agree on and feel comfortable with at the beginning of the counselling process.

Counselling Children

When I have worked with children in schools I tend to use play and art therapy as these seem to be the best way for younger children to express themselves, although in some circumstances it is possible to use some of these methods with a particular adult.

Domestic Violence

I am well acquainted with issues of domestic violence and the overall effect this can have on a woman's life even years after she has left the abusive partner. Dealing with rape and sexual abuse cases also needs a non-directional approach and I have had some success in these areas.
